PUBCAP Provides Link to Community

Posted in

The Public Utilities Board Consumer Advisory Panel (PUBCAP) serves a critical role for BPUB. It’s the opportunity to directly receive feedback from the community on a number of different projects and issues. It’s a way of holding BPUB accountable for its actions and helping shape the direction the company is headed.

PUBCAP consists of 10 members of the community along with one liaison from BPUB. The members are generally part of the local business community and selected for two-year terms based on recommendations from PUBCAP members. PUBCAP meetings are held every month, typically the third Wednesday of the month, at the BPUB Administration Building from 5:30-7 p.m., unless otherwise specified. All meetings are open to the public.

At these meetings, a wide variety of topics are covered. Current and future BPUB projects, internal programs at BPUB and generation information about BPUB are discussed, providing participants a fuller insight into the company providing critical services to businesses and homes. In addition, each meeting has time devoted for new business and follow-ups on old business. This period is open for comments. That means that members of the public have the opportunity to bring up issues they might be experiencing at their own business or residence, or ask questions to better understand how BPUB operates.

This spirit of transparency is important for a municipally owned utility. It is necessary to stay in tune with what is going on within the community and how it feels about the direction the utility is going. Even more important for business owners, it provides a forum to express any concerns you might have and a place to go for any follow-ups. This back and forth allows BPUB to continue to grow and better provide service to its customers.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend the meetings as this provides a face-to-face opportunity to seek out BPUB employees for answers on pressing questions that might be affecting your business. Agendas for the meetings can be found under the meetings section of the BPUB homepage.

Know any of the PUBCAP members? You can notify them of any concerns or questions that you might have regarding BPUB. Or let them know that you’re interested in becoming a PUBCAP member. We look forward to seeing you at our next meeting!
