ERCOT Discontinues Rolling Blackouts
BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS –The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) has discontinued the rolling blackouts that were ordered late Wednesday afternoon. At this time, all Brownsville Public Utilities Board (BPUB) customers should have power restored.
The electrical system is not back to normal so Rio Grande Valley residents are still urged to conserve electricity, especially at peak times tonight and Thursday. If the issue is not resolved Thursday, there could be additional rolling blackouts to ensure the safety of the electric service grid.
BPUB and other utilities are not given advance notice in these emergency situations; therefore, we apologize for any inconvenience to our customers and will keep them informed of the situation as any changes develop.
Customers experiencing a prolonged outage after these rolling blackouts should call BPUB at 956-983-6300 or use the BPUB outage reporting application found on the BPUB website (www.brownsville-pub.com).
