Water and Meter Management Audit Postponed
BROWNSVILLE, TX – The water audit on the water distribution system that the Brownsville Public Utilities Board (BPUB) scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 31 at 11 p.m. through Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 4 a.m. has been postponed due to the weather.
Due to issues with weather in other parts of Texas, JBS Water, Inc., the contractor hired to perform the audit, is unable to complete the audit as scheduled. BPUB will notify customers about the new date once it is scheduled.
The water and meter management audit is performed every five years and helps BPUB identify any potential water losses in its water distribution system. During this test, water mains throughout the city will be isolated to monitor and pinpoint any potential water losses. The project is done with assistance from BPUB staff across multiple departments, including Information Technology, Geographic Information Systems, Water Plants, Operations, Customer Service and Engineering.
Once the audit is complete, JBS Water will gather the data and present any findings along with recommendations to BPUB via an audit report.
Please note that no service interruptions for BPUB customers are expected as a result of the audit.
