BPUB: Water Line Break Causes Water Pressure Loss
Approximately 200 Brownsville Public Utilities Board (BPUB) customers in the area of Southmost Boulevard and East 20th Street are without water this morning as crews isolate a 12-inch water line break.
Crews are currently working to repair a potable water line break that occurred today at around 4 a.m. and are working to isolate the break and make the repair by dropping a new section into the existing line. The estimated time for this repair to be completed is 3 p.m. today.
The cause of this break is suspected to be the ground shifting. During periods of no rain, the ground tends to shift, causing water line breaks. BPUB crews are working non-stop since this line broke, with crews currently onsite to get service restored as quickly as possible.
Residents living in the area of the work will experience a temporary water interruption. BPUB apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and will get service restored to customers as quickly as possible.
