BPUB Reminds Customers of Service Disconnections
The Brownsville Public Utilities Board (BPUB) has implemented several measures to ensure that the process of disconnections is handled in a safe and responsible manner as the resumption of service disconnections for customers who have overdue electric, water, and wastewater bills starts March 8.
BPUB will only disconnect service during normal business hours, and BPUB already notified customers with past-due balances. Customers who call or visit BPUB will be able to arrange a payment plan or access financial assistance programs to avoid disconnection. Customers can download the application in English and Spanish from BPUB’s website and submit it to one of the following agencies for processing:
- Community Action Corporation of South Texas (CACOST) at (956) 435-0379, or by email at [email protected]
- Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley (CCRGV) at (956) 541-0220
- Texas Utility Help at https://texasutilityhelp.com
BPUB reminds customers to regularly check their account balance and make timely payments through the proper portals. BPUB will never seek payment via the telephone, especially not through Zelle, Cash App, PayPal, dot. Card or any other prepaid card or mobile payment service. BPUB will also never request to confirm your personal information via telephone or threaten to disconnect.
Customers can access their account information, pay bills and sign up for payment plans online, through the BPUB app or by calling Customer Service at (956) 983-6121 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information on BPUB’s assistance programs, customers can visit the BPUB website https://www.brownsville-pub.com/.
