BPUB Opens Water Treatment Plants for Tour
Brownsville Public Utilities Board (BPUB) will open its doors to water treatment facilities in Brownsville on Friday, May 26. Starting at 8 a.m., the tour leaves from the BPUB Administration Building. The free tour ends at 1 p.m. with lunch and a question and answer session.
The event promises to showcase the full water treatment process, starting from the beginning at the river intake for the Rio Grande. The tour will end at the Southmost Regional Water Authority desalination water treatment plant. The water systems tour occurs annually in the spring. In the fall, there is another tour that will cover the Brownsville electrical system.
Transportation is included, but seats on the tour bus are limited. Members of the general public can register online at http://newsroom.brownsville.pub.com/community-tour. Call 956-983-6281 for more information.
