Tis the Season for Bill Assistance

Posted in ,

The holiday season can often be a stressful time. There is the gift-giving to do while still having to balance the regular bills that come in every month, like utility bills, but it’s important to remember that there is assistance available out there for qualifying customers.

BPUB has its own assistance program called Project SHARE that provides help for customers in need, but BPUB also works with several organizations, including the Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program (CEAP), that provide funding. Here are some of the people who may qualify for utility bill assistance:

  • Elderly (62 years or older)
  • Low income
  • Experiencing high medical expenses
  • Experiencing funeral expenses
  • Unemployed

How do I apply?

A good place to start would be to visit the BPUB website and check out the utility bill assistance programs listed there. You might have some additional resources there that you weren’t aware of.

By phone: Call Community Action Corporation of South Texas at 956-435-0379
Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley (CCRGV) at 956-541-0220

By email: Download the application from the BPUB website and send it to [email protected]

Required Documents

When you apply, please remember that there are some items that you will need, including your BPUB billing statement, proof of income for the last 30 days, and any supporting documents for unemployment or underemployment.
