BPUB Wins Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting
The Brownsville Public Utilities Board (BPUB) received the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ended Sept. 30, 2024.
This report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.

BPUB Director of Finance David Medrano sits at his desk following the finance department’s recognition by the GFOA for excellence in financial reporting.
This is the 19th consecutive year BPUB receives this prestigious award.
“Our team works extremely hard to ensure the accuracy of BPUB’s financial reporting. It’s really a team effort, and I am very proud of the hard work put in by all the members of our finance team,” BPUB Chief Financial Officer Miguel A. Perez said. “This award shows the commitment that BPUB has for its customers.”
The certificate of achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
