BPUB Recognized for Financial Reporting

BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS – Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to Brownsville Public Utilities Board (BPUB) for its comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year ended Sept. 30, 2019.

The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.

The certificate of achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. This is the 14th straight year that BPUB has earned this recognition.

“This recognition is testament to the hard work that our team puts in every day, and earning this award 14 straight years also shows that this commitment to excellence has persisted year over year,” said BPUB General Manager & CEO John S. Bruciak.

The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C.
