BPUB Recognized as a Reliable Public Power Provider

The Brownsville Public Utilities Board (BPUB) has been recognized by the American Public Power Association (APPA) with the Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3)® Diamond designation for its exceptional service and commitment to providing safe and reliable electric service to its customers. BPUB is now a four-time RP3 designation recipient — Platinum in 2014 and Diamond in 2017 and 2020.

The RP3 designation, which lasts for three years, recognizes public power utilities that demonstrate proficiency in four key areas: reliability, safety, workforce development, and system improvement. BPUB is one of only 275 utilities nationwide to receive this recognition.

“We are honored to receive the RP3 designation from the American Public Power Association,” said BPUB General Manager and CEO Marilyn Gilbert. “This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our employees, who work tirelessly to provide safe and reliable electric service to our customers.”

BPUB has a long history of providing safe and reliable electric service to the Brownsville community. The utility is committed to investing in its infrastructure and workforce to ensure that it can continue to provide top-quality service for years to come.

“Reliability is at the heart of what we do at the BPUB,” Gilbert said. “We know that our customers rely on us to keep their lights on, and we take that responsibility very seriously. We will continue to work hard every day to maintain the highest standards of service for our community.”
