BPUB Receives GFOA Award for Financial Reporting

BROWNSVILLE, TX – The Brownsville Public Utilities Board (BPUB) received the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ended Sept. 30, 2021.

This report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.

This is the 16th consecutive year BPUB receives this prestigious award.

“I am very proud of the hard work put in by our finance team,” BPUB Chief Financial Officer Miguel A. Perez said. “Our financial reporting demonstrates our commitment to being informative and transparent with the public about BPUB’s finances.”

The certificate of achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
