BPUB Observes Public Power Month
The Brownsville Public Utilities Board (BPUB) is extending the celebration of Public Power Week (Oct. 6-12) through the entire month of October to highlight the value of municipally owned utility service in the community and is beginning Public Power Month with a new community event, the Big Public Utilities Bash.
“Public power is a cornerstone of community well-being, delivering reliable, community-guided utility services that support long-term growth and stability,” BPUB General Manager & CEO Marilyn Gilbert said. “By expanding Public Power Week into a month-long celebration and hosting the Big Public Utilities Bash, we’re creating more meaningful opportunities to engage with our customers and highlight the vital role public power plays in our community.”
The Big Public Utilities Bash will be held Friday, Oct. 10, at 1425 Robinhood Drive from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. This free, family-friendly event will offer the community an engaging opportunity to learn about BPUB’s services and departments through informational booths, equipment demonstrations and hands-on activities. Attendees will also have the chance to meet BPUB employees and gain a deeper understanding of the benefits of public power through a public power presentation.
