BPUB Lifts Boil Water Notice
BROWNSVILLE, TX – The Brownsville Public Utilities Board (BPUB), in accordance with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), lifted its boil water notice at 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, after conducting water sampling at 10 areas and finding water residuals at adequate levels.
All customers living within the boundaries south of FM 802 Ruben Torres Boulevard, north of FM 511/Dockberry Road, east of Central Avenue and west of Oklahoma Avenue no longer need to boil the water.
TCEQ regulations required that BPUB initiate a boil water notice when a 16-inch water line ruptured, causing the water pressure to fall below 20 pounds per square inch Wednesday afternoon. Water samples collected at 10 different sites Wednesday and Thursday were tested for bacteriological and chlorine residuals and came back negative. Neighborhood collection sites are approved sites by the TCEQ.
