BPUB Announces Winners of Drawing Contest

The winners of the Brownsville Public Utilities Board’s (BPUB) 2024 Conservation Superheroes Drawing Contest have been decided. This contest, aimed at promoting water and electrical conservation among students in grades 1-5, helped put the spotlight on the need for conservation as well as showcasing the talents of students in BPUB’s service territory.

The contest, which ran from March 18 to April 12, encouraged students to submit drawings that conveyed a positive message about water and energy conservation. Five finalists from each grade level were selected by BPUB staff for a community voting phase held April 24-May 10. The entries in each grade level with the most votes were named the grand prize winners.

The winners of the 2024 Conservation Superheroes Drawing Contest are:

First Grade: Jesse, Castaneda Elementary

Second Grade: Jenavi, R.L. Martin Elementary

Third Grade: Amberly, Burns Elementary

Fourth Grade: Miley, Bryss Academy

Fifth Grade: Dafne, St. Mary’s School

Grand prize winners will receive a ninth-generation Apple iPad.

“This contest is a fun way for BPUB to engage with the younger members of our community, encouraging them to think creatively about conservation,” said Marilyn D. Gilbert, BPUB General Manager & CEO.

The winning entries will be showcased on the BPUB website and social media platforms. The winners will receive their grand prize, a ninth-generation Apple iPad, and will be recognized during BPUB’s June 10 Board of Directors Meeting.

BPUB would like to thank all of the schools and students who participated in this contest as well as the community for choosing the grand prize winners by voting for their favorites.
