BPUB Announces Conservation Superheroes Drawing Contest

The Brownsville Public Utilities Board (BPUB) invites students in grades 1-5 from schools within its service territory or residing in a home serviced by BPUB to participate in the Conservation Superheroes Drawing Contest for an opportunity to win a ninth generation Apple iPad. The contest, which runs Aug. 18 to Sept. 19, encourages students to draw a positive message promoting water or electrical conservation.

“We’re excited to connect with our community in meaningful ways, especially through our youngest members,” BPUB General Manager & CEO Marilyn D. Gilbert said. “This contest is a fun and creative way to help students understand the importance of conserving our shared resources. By learning to be mindful about electricity and water, they become everyday superheroes for a more sustainable future.”

BPUB Conservation Superheroes Drawing Contest winners pose with BPUB executives and board members.

Participants should download a Conservation Superheroes drawing sheet available on BPUB’s website to submit their original artwork. The drawing must have a message about electric or water conservation. Each submission must include a completed entry form, signed by a parent or guardian postmarked no later than Sept. 19.

Only one entry per student will be permitted. Submissions should be placed in an envelope to avoid folding or damage and mailed to or dropped off at:

1425 Robinhood Dr.

The contest will be judged by BPUB staff with a focus on the artwork’s creativity, originality and the clarity of its conservation message. Five finalists from each grade level will move on to a community voting phase scheduled from Oct. 10 to Oct. 17 on the Conservation Superheroes website https://www.brownsville-pub.com/contest/.
