BPUB: Crews Repairing Water Main
Approximately 30 Brownsville Public Utilities Board (BPUB) customers at the Victoria Garden Housing Authority complex are currently without water service today due to a broken water line in the area of Grant Street and International Boulevard. BPUB crews have closed valves in the area to stop water losses and are excavating to assess the extent of a water line rupture.
There are three water lines located in the area, a 30-inch water distribution line, a 12-inch line and an 8-inch water main. Until the crew finishes an assessment of the break, no information is available on expected water service restoration.
BPUB crews will install another valve to restore service to customers until the repair is complete. Crews were dispatched to the line break at around 6 a.m. Because of the volume of street flooding and excavation needed, BPUB crews are working closely with the City of Brownsville Traffic Department and the Brownsville Police Department.
BPUB apologizes for any inconveniences this emergency repair may cause. For updates of this service outage, please visit the BPUB Facebook or Twitter page. Please call (956) 983-6300 or visit the BPUB website at www.brownsville-pub.com to report service outages.
