BPUB Deactivates General Emergency Plan

The Brownsville Public Utilities Board (BPUB) General Manager and CEO John S. Bruciak deactivated the General Emergency Plan on Friday, Aug. 25 at 4 p.m. as Hurricane Harvey bypassed Brownsville and is projected to make landfall on the northern Gulf Coast.

With the threat of Hurricane Harvey making landfall on or near Brownsville, the Brownsville Public Utilities Board (BPUB) General Emergency Management Plan has been activated, effective Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 3 p.m.

BPUB Working to Restore Payment System

The payment system used by the Brownsville Public Utilities Board (BPUB) is currently down, but customers needing to pay their bills still have options. During this time, BPUB will not be conducting disconnects of service, and late fees will not be assessed for accounts affected by this interruption.

BPUB Releases Annual Water Quality Report

The Brownsville Public Utilities Board (BPUB) will release its annual drinking water quality report to customers beginning Thursday, May 18. The Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) includes the most recent findings of community water sampling studies for the BPUB water treatment plants as well as for the Southmost Regional Water Authority (SRWA) desalination plant.

The Brownsville Public Utilities Board (BPUB) announces a temporary closure of southbound Interstate Highway 77/83 (US77/83) on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, from midnight to approximately 5:30 a.m. BPUB crews will temporarily close the southbound portion of the expressway from Ruben Torres Boulevard to Boca Chica Boulevard as BPUB personnel repair street lighting.

Water in North Brownsville Safe to Drink

Following reports of cloudy water in areas in north Brownsville, the Brownsville Public Utilities Board (BPUB) performed tests and determined the water is safe for customers to drink and use.
