BPUB Project SHARE Scholarship Application Now Available

BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS – The Brownsville Public Utilities Board (BPUB) is pleased to announce that it will award ten (10) scholarships, each worth $1,000, to graduating high school seniors through its Project SHARE Scholarship program.

The funds for these scholarships are gathered from Project SHARE, a program created in 1985 to assist families in paying their utility bills. Because BPUB understands the value of gaining a higher education, deserving graduating high school seniors are awarded scholarships through Project SHARE.

To qualify for the BPUB Project SHARE Scholarship, applicants must meet certain requirements. The applicant must be a graduating high school senior and live in a household with a minimum of one year of utility service with BPUB at the application deadline date. Additionally, scholarships will be granted to students who will attend an accredited institution of higher education in the United States. All majors qualify for the BPUB Project SHARE Scholarship. For more details, please refer to the scholarship application.

Students may apply for the scholarship online at www.brownsville-pub.com/about-us/share. The deadline to apply is 11 p.m. local time on Friday, March 6, 2015. Once the scholarship recipients are selected, BPUB will send their funds directly to the applicable financial aid office for disbursement.

This scholarship has become an annual tradition for BPUB, dating back to 2005 with 84 scholarships awarded in that time. To reduce the amount of paper used by applicants and BPUB and to simplify the process for the students and judging panel, this is the first year that the Project SHARE Scholarship will be completely online.
